Spc. Adam M. Kuligowski of Arlington, Virginia grew up in South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Honduras, Utah and Derry, New Hampshire where he attended Pinkerton Academy. Adam was also involved with a student-run TV station and went to China as a member of the school’s first exchange program. He was an intelligent student who was interested in exploring the world. His future plans were to attend college for Engineering. He entered the Army in October 2006 and arrived at Fort Campbell in August 2007. Adam had been in Afghanistan about a year and was scheduled to return home in a month. He was looking forward to going home and had wanted to his grandfather and talk about his service experiences in World War II. His awards and decorations include: National Defense Service Medal; Afghanistan Campaign Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Army Service Ribbon; NATO Medal and Weapons Qualification: M4-rifle, expert. Adam loved learning and could always be found reading about one of his many interests which included World History, Knight Templars, Nikolai Tesla and Teddy Roosevelt. He was an avid reader and was particularly fond of alternate history novels by authors such as Harry Turtledove. He is survived by his father Michael Kuligowski currently residing in Bangkok, Thailand, his mother Tracie Kuligowski of Derry, and his siblings Stefan, Kalia and Lukas. He is also survived by his grandparents Stanley and Phyllis Kuligowski. Adam died at age 21 in Bagram, Afghanistan, of injuries sustained from a non-combat related incident.
